Brookleigh update: West Sussex County Council (WSCC) reviewing Bedelands Academy proposals

Homes England is aware that WSCC is reviewing their plans to build the new Bedelands Academy secondary school at Brookleigh. We understand that the original projected level of demand for secondary school places in the local area has not materialised, meaning WSCC will review the proposals based on future need for places, and keep pupil forecasts under active review.

Delivering supporting community infrastructure remains a key priority for Homes England. We are providing the land for the secondary school, which is protected for education purposes for 15 years, and will submit a planning application this autumn for the first of the primary schools at Brookleigh.

As the Brookleigh development is built, we will continue to work closely with WSCC, as well as Mid Sussex District Council as planning authority, to ensure community spaces and buildings are built alongside new homes and transport connections.
