Goddards Green Waste Water Treatment Works

A £24.1m funding package has been secured to support the mitigation of odour emissions at Goddards Green Waste Water Treatment Works. This package consists of £4m LGF funding, £6.54m HIF funding and is further supported by an additional £13.6m from Southern Water. Works are now complete and are essential for unlocking 256 new homes to support the Brookleigh Development.

The site boasts a Thermal Hydrolysis Heat Plant, which is the first of its kind in Southern Water. The site is set to become 80% self-sufficient, generating up to 800kw per hour of electricity via the Thermal Hydrolysis Plant. This plant treats waste sludge and additional sludge taken in from surrounding wastewater treatment sites, with the end product known as ‘cake’ being sustainably re-used in local farms.

This sustainable process means there is less end waste product which  benefits the entire region.
