Brookleigh Newsletter: Spring–Summer Update 2026

Brookleigh has had a busy first half of 2026, with progress made across new homes, green spaces, transport, and community facilities. Below, you'll find a summary of the latest updates from Homes England and our development partners.

You can also read the full newsletter via the link at the end of this article.

Building a growing community

As the development grows, so does the number of ways residents can get involved, stay informed, and help shape what comes next. Your voice is important to the growth of Brookleigh as part of Burgess Hill. The year began with the first Brookleigh Residents' Forum, which brought neighbours, developer partners and local organisations together to share updates and discuss priorities. Residents raised practical issues such as match‑day parking, progress at Freeks Lane, and ideas for building a stronger sense of community. These conversations are already helping to shape next steps across the site.

The next Residents' Forum will take place on Monday 13 July at 6pm, hosted at Burgess Hill Town FC. It's an open invitation to come along, hear updates, and share your experiences of living at Brookleigh.

Updates from our developer partners

Across the development, our partners continue to make progress.

We like how these updates show our ongoing aim to create a mixed, well‑connected neighbourhood at Brookleigh, where people at different stages of life can make their home.

New bus services launched

New bus services launched

Transport remains a key priority for Brookleigh, and May saw the launch of the new funded by Homes England and operated by Compass Travel.

The 38 Service runs Monday to Saturday, with buses up to every 30 minutes, providing easy access to Burgess Hill Town Centre and the railway station. A dedicated school route also operates during the morning and afternoon peaks.

The '38 Flex' Service replaces the former flexibus and offers on‑demand travel during off‑peak hours, including Sundays and public holidays. Residents can book journeys using the new Brookleigh 38 Flex app, while the main Compass Travel app provides timetables, fares and service updates.

These services are an important step in making everyday travel easier and supporting more sustainable journeys around Burgess Hill. You can read our recent news article if you want to find out a bit more about the launch of the bus services.

Green spaces and active travel

Work continues on the Green Circle, the walking, cycling and bridleway route that will link Brookleigh with the wider Burgess Hill network. Work is ready to progress at Freeks Lane, where Bellway is upgrading the existing Public Right of Way to create a safer, more accessible route alongside Bedelands Nature Reserve. Once complete, residents will be able to enjoy a continuous, traffic‑free route through Brookleigh and Burgess Hill.

Alongside this, Homes England is progressing the four Mobility Corridors to give improved walking and cycling routes connecting Brookleigh to Burgess Hill Town Centre and local stations. Designs have been refined following resident feedback, and West Sussex County Council will be consulting on the updated proposals in the coming weeks.

Sport, leisure and education

Other important community news relates to the Brookleigh Primary School and the Arc sports facility. There's lots to look forward to.

Proposals for Brookleigh Primary School have received unanimous planning approval at MSDC's recent planning committee. Homes England will deliver the school, but it will sit within the Phase 1C area and become a key part of this area of Brookleigh.

As we knew it would, the Arc sports and leisure facility has quickly become a key part of Brookleigh life. We have plans to mark the Arc's successful opening and its key role in the community with a celebratory opening event in September 2026. Look out for more details.

We'll keep you updated on progress in future news updates, social posts, and newsletter editions.
